Aspects

• If the Locus Aspect lets a Spirit Repeat a Power Card at its Incarna, what happens if that Spirit uses the Power Card again (e.g., via Powerstorm)? Can they Repeat the Power Card at the Incarna again?
  Yes, but only if the Spirit has enough absorbed Presence. Each Repeat granted by Strength of the Waking Island counts against the total number of Repeats it grants that Spirit that turn.

Blighted Island cards

• Can you Repeat the Power Card granted by Aid from Lesser Spirits?
  Yes, but with some restrictions.

  • Anything that checks the cost of the Power Card checks its printed cost, which may be 1 Energy.
  • It's not one of your Power Cards in play, so you can't Repeat it with Gift of Twinned Days (but it doesn't stop you from repeating a more expensive Power Card).

  Triggered Repeats, like those from Relentless Punishment, also work normally.

Effect Rules

• When instructed to "Repeat this Power", do you have to obey the range/target land restrictions?
  Only if it doesn't tell you where to Repeat it. If a Repeat specifies where to use it, you obey those instructions, ignoring the original Range and Target restrictions (p. 19). In the rare case that the origin land matters when instructed to Repeat a Power in a specific land, it's the same origin land as the original power use.

  For example, "The Land Thrashes in Furious Pain" could be Repeated on an adjacent land without Blight.

• Can a triggered Repeat (like from "Relentless Punishment") repeat Powers resolved at an unusual time, such during the Invader Phase via the "Ethereal Conjunction" Event?
  Yes. It repeats the Power Card immediately, before moving on to the rest of the Event.

• How does Vitality interact with effects that add two or more Blight at once (e.g., Kingdom of Sweden Level 1)?
  Each Vitality prevents 1 Blight. Depending on the number of Vitality relative to the number of Blight added, this may or may not prevent all of the Blight.

  If at least 1 Blight is added after accounting for Vitality, destroy Presence and cascade like normal.

• What does Vitality do in lands with Blight?
  Nothing, aside from existing for effects that check how many Vitality tokens are in a land, like Heart-Tree Guards the Land. If the Blight is later moved or removed, the Vitality can be used for its normal function.

• If your Incarna and 1 of your Presence are in the same land, is that land a Sacred Site for you?
  Yes, if you choose to count your Incarna as Presence for that action.

• If both a Beasts and something that counts as a Beasts (e.g., a sacred site of Many Minds Move as One) are in the same land and something destroys a Beasts there, can you choose which one is destroyed?
  Yes. Even if there are two ordinary Beasts tokens in a land, players get to choose which one gets destroyed – it just doesn't usually matter which one you pick.

  Similarly, if a Presence and an Incarna are both in a land and something would destroy Presence there, the Spirit can choose whether to destroy the Presence or the Incarna.

• When Blight is added to a land with Vitality, does it destroy Presence?
  Not if there's enough Vitality to prevent all of the Blight from being added.

  Sufficient Vitality will also prevent extra effects of Blight being added, including those from Mining Rush (The Kingdom of Sweden Level 5), Irreparable Damage (The Habsburg Monarchy (Livestock Colony) Additional Loss Condition), Runoff and Bilgewater (The Kingdom of Scotland Level 5), Fragile Sands (Varied Terrains), and All Things Weaken (Blight Card).

• When you return Presence to your tracks, can you cover one of the leftmost solid-circle spaces that start the game without Presence?
  No, the leftmost spaces with solid circles cannot be covered by Presence.

  Similarly, "Bonus" spaces (which have a solid circles and start uncovered) can never be covered. However, if a normal space with a dashed circle starts the game uncovered (e.g., in the Guard the Isle's Heart Scenario), that space can be covered.

  In the rare case that this means it's impossible to return a Presence to your Presence Tracks, the returned Presence is instead destroyed. [JE p. 28]

• Can you use the threshold effects of Innate Powers, even if you can't use the effects above them?
  Yes, each line is evaluated independently, depending on the Elements you activate the power with.

  No.

General Play

• If a Spirit's Presence counts as Beasts (say, due to "Settle Into Hunting-Grounds"), and a "destroy Beasts" effect destroys their Presence, is it still considered destroyed Presence? More generally, if Piece A also counts as Piece B, and a "destroy/remove Piece B" effect destroys/removes it, does it go to the supply for A or B?
  It's considered destroyed Presence. When a piece is removed from the board, it goes to the supply (or other destination) for that physical type of piece.

Power Cards

• When an Aspect starts the game with a Minor Power in its hand, does that Minor Power count as a Unique Power (e.g., for Tell the Old Stories)?
  No, it's still a Minor Power.

  The type of a card never changes, no matter where it starts the game. If you're ever unsure which type a Power Card is, check the back of the card.

• If you Forget a Power Card partway through resolution, do you continue resolving it? (E.g., if you gain a Major Power with "Entwined Power" and then Forget "Entwined Power.")
  Yes, finish resolving the current use of the Power, along with any immediately-triggered instructions to Repeat the Power (e.g., via Relentless Gaze of the Sun using its "Relentless Punishment" special rule). The Power Card is no longer in play though, so you no longer gain the benefits of its Elements towards its own elemental thresholds and cannot Repeat it later in the turn with a "once this turn" Repeat option (e.g., via "Powestorm").

• With Entwined Power, can Shroud of Silent Mist Gather another Spirit's Presence?
  Yes. When Shroud of Silent Mist targets a Power (which its Presence-Gather is part of) it treats the other Spirit's Presence as also being its Presence.

  If the effects of the special rule didn't have anything to do with targeting the Power, it might be more ambiguous (since Entwined Power is only supposed to affect targeting), but Mists Shift and Flow is very explicit that it can be used to target Powers.

• With an Archipelago, can Entwined Power's 'target via each others Presence' let you avoid paying 1 Energy to target a Spirit you don't otherwise share an islet with?
  Yes. The check for "Do you share an islet with the Spirit you're targeting?" (and 1-Energy cost if not) is part of targeting the Power.

• If you repeat a Power, can you use another Power in between the two uses, or do the two uses have to go right after each other?
  That depends on what's letting you Repeat the Power.

  • If you can Repeat the Power "this turn" (e.g., from "Powestorm" or "Gift of Strength"), then you may use another Power between the two uses of the repeated Power.
  • If the Power repeats itself (e.g., "Creepers Tear into Mortar" or "The Land Thrashes in Furious Pain") or you are granted the option to Repeat a Power "After" using it the first time (e.g., from "Relentless Punishment" or "Strength of the Waking Island"), then resolve the Power and anything else it triggers (e.g., "Vengeance of the Dead") before immediately Repeating it – you don't have a chance to use another Power first.

• If "Entwined Power" is used on Downpour Drenches the World and another Spirit: can lands with 2 of the other Spirit's Presence be treated as Downpour's Sacred Sites (and thus Wetlands) while the other Spirit is targeting?
  No, only while Downpour is targeting. "Entwined Power" is "each Spirit may use the other's Presence while it is targeting", not "both Spirits' Presence belongs to both of them while either is targeting".

  There is no formal definition of "using another Spirit's Presence"; informally consider it "treat it as yours for anything related to the act of targeting".

• If the text of Strong and Constant Currents is resolved in an inland land (e.g., due to Let's See What Happens), can it move Dahan?
  Yes.

  "One other Coastal land" doesn't re-check if the target land is Coastal — it just means "a Coastal land that is not target land."

• If I use the "forget this Power" option on "Call on Midnight's Dreams," can I still Repeat the Power Card?
  In general, no – the Power Card is leaves play when you Forget it, so you can't Repeat it later in the Fast Phase with a "once this turn" Repeat option, like "Powerstorm" of "Gift of Strength."

  Changed Portion of Ruling: If using the Power Card triggers the option to Repeat it immediately (e.g., due to the Locus Aspect), you may Repeat the Power Card. However, since it has already been Forgotten, you can't choose to Forget it again to gain Energy a second time and play the second newly-gained Power Card.

• Does "Entwined Power" (you and target Spirit may use each others’ Presence to target Powers) also allow you to count the other Spirit's Presence for the text effects of Powers (e.g., getting 1 Fear and dealing 1 Damage with "Pull Beneath the Hungry Earth")? How about for determining which lands are "your lands" for the purpose of a Power?
  No. Those are effects of Powers; Entwined Power only helps targeting – i.e., meeting the requirements in the "Range" and "Target" boxes.

Scenarios

• What is prevented by the Invader benefit #8 of Powers Long Forgotten?
  The land cannot be selected as a target for Powers (Cards or Innate). There are no other restrictions.

  For instance, you could target an adjacent land and Gather Invaders there, or you could place Presence there as part of Growth. However, you cannot use a "Repeat this on an adjacent land" threshold to target the land, since that's still targeting the land with a Power even if it's not using the normal Range and Target requirements.

Spirits and Innate Powers

• Can Relentless Gaze of the Sun usefully Repeat a Power Card with "Relentless Punishment" if the first use stops the land from satisfying the Range or Target restrictions? (e.g., if "Lure of the Unknown" Gathers a Town into a land, preventing that land from being a land without Invaders.)
  Yes. When the source of a Repeat specifies which land it affects, ignore the normal Range and Target requirements. In this case, the second use of "Lure of the Unknown" can Gather an additional Explorer/Town, since the "no Invaders" targeting condition is ignored.

  This won't let you get around any conditional requirements in the Power's effects though. For example, if Sear Anger Into the Wild Lands destroys the last Invader in a land, a Relentless Punishment Repeat of the Power can no longer meet the "if Wilds and Invaders are present" condition in the Power's effect to add more Fear.

• How does Relentless Punishment work with Power Cards that Repeat themselves (e.g., "The Land Thrashes in Furious Pain")?
  In order:

  • The initial use of the Power targets a land and resolves (along with any non-Repeat actions it triggers).
  • This triggers both "Relentless Punishment" on that land and the Power's own Repeat instruction. Since the order is ambiguous, you choose which one happens first.
  • After the Power Repeats itself, "Relentless Punishment" triggers again on the second land targeted.

  Because "Relentless Punishment" counts all prior uses of the Power, using that special rule a second time can get quite expensive (Power's Energy Cost + 1 Energy for the first use + 1 Energy per initial "Relentless Punishment" use + 1 Energy for the self-Repeat use)!

  The Locus Aspect works similarly, but instead of the cost increasing each time, each Repeat counts against the number of Repeats that Spirit gets from "Strength of the Waking Island."
