• Can you Repeat the Power Card granted by Aid from Lesser Spirits?
  Yes, but with some restrictions.

  • Anything that checks the cost of the Power Card checks its printed cost, which may be 1 Energy.
  • It's not one of your Power Cards in play, so you can't Repeat it with Gift of Twinned Days (but it doesn't stop you from repeating a more expensive Power Card).

  Triggered Repeats, like those from Relentless Punishment, also work normally.

Effect Rules

• When instructed to "Repeat this Power", do you have to obey the range/target land restrictions?
  Only if it doesn't tell you where to Repeat it. If a Repeat specifies where to use it, you obey those instructions, ignoring the original Range and Target restrictions (p. 19). In the rare case that the origin land matters when instructed to Repeat a Power in a specific land, it's the same origin land as the original power use.

  For example, "The Land Thrashes in Furious Pain" could be Repeated on an adjacent land without Blight.

• Can a triggered Repeat (like from "Relentless Punishment") repeat Powers resolved at an unusual time, such during the Invader Phase via the "Ethereal Conjunction" Event?
  Yes. It repeats the Power Card immediately, before moving on to the rest of the Event.

Power Cards

• If you Forget a Power Card partway through resolution, do you continue resolving it? (E.g., if you gain a Major Power with "Entwined Power" and then Forget "Entwined Power.")
  Yes, finish resolving the current use of the Power, along with any immediately-triggered instructions to Repeat the Power (e.g., via Relentless Gaze of the Sun using its "Relentless Punishment" special rule). The Power Card is no longer in play though, so you no longer gain the benefits of its Elements towards its own elemental thresholds and cannot Repeat it later in the turn with a "once this turn" Repeat option (e.g., via "Powestorm").

• When using a land-targeting Power with Range "—," which land is the origin land?
  In the rather rare case that it matters, you can choose any land with your Presence to be the origin of the Power.

  If you don't have any Presence to use as the origin (e.g., because all of your Presence is under Absolute Stasis or in the Endless Dark), you can't use the Power.

• If you repeat a Power, can you use another Power in between the two uses, or do the two uses have to go right after each other?
  That depends on what's letting you Repeat the Power.

  • If you can Repeat the Power "this turn" (e.g., from "Powestorm" or "Gift of Strength"), then you may use another Power between the two uses of the repeated Power.
  • If the Power repeats itself (e.g., "Creepers Tear into Mortar" or "The Land Thrashes in Furious Pain") or you are granted the option to Repeat a Power "After" using it the first time (e.g., from "Relentless Punishment" or "Strength of the Waking Island"), then resolve the Power and anything else it triggers (e.g., "Vengeance of the Dead") before immediately Repeating it – you don't have a chance to use another Power first.

Spirits and Innate Powers

• Can Relentless Gaze of the Sun use Relentless Punishment to repeat Spirit-targeting Powers?
  No, a Spirit-targeting Power doesn't have an origin land.

  (Some Spirit-targeting Powers technically have origin lands for specific Range checks in their effects, like for the Damage in Unleash a Torrent of the Self's Own Essence, but the Power as a whole still doesn't have an origin for Relentless Punishment to count Presence in.)

• When using Relentless Punishment to repeat a Power Card, what counts as a previous use?
  Any time you have resolved the Power, including:

  • The original use of the Power;
  • Any time Relentless Punishment repeated that Power;
  • Any time that Power repeated itself (e.g., Winds of Rust and Atrophy repeating itself with its threshold); and
  • Any time something else repeated that Power (e.g., Powerstorm)

  Thus, if at all possible, you want to target the land where you're going to use Relentless Punishment before you use any other Repeats.

• Can Relentless Gaze of the Sun usefully Repeat a Power Card with "Relentless Punishment" if the first use stops the land from satisfying the Range or Target restrictions? (e.g., if "Lure of the Unknown" Gathers a Town into a land, preventing that land from being a land without Invaders.)
  Yes. When the source of a Repeat specifies which land it affects, ignore the normal Range and Target requirements. In this case, the second use of "Lure of the Unknown" can Gather an additional Explorer/Town, since the "no Invaders" targeting condition is ignored.

  This won't let you get around any conditional requirements in the Power's effects though. For example, if "Sear Anger Into the Wild Lands" destroys the last Invader in a land, a "Relentless Punishment" Repeat of the Power can no longer meet the "if Wilds and Invaders are present" condition in the Power's effect to add more Fear.

• When does Relentless Punishment check how many of your Presence are in the origin land?
  When you target the land with the original use of the Power, before resolving any of its effects. This most commonly matters for Focus the Sun’s Rays, but it can also matter if Presence is destroyed/removed/replaced as part of Power resolution.

• How does Relentless Punishment work with Power Cards that Repeat themselves (e.g., "The Land Thrashes in Furious Pain")?
  In order:

  • The initial use of the Power targets a land and resolves (along with any non-Repeat actions it triggers).
  • This triggers both "Relentless Punishment" on that land and the Power's own Repeat instruction. Since the order is ambiguous, you choose which one happens first.
  • After the Power Repeats itself, "Relentless Punishment" triggers again on the second land targeted.

  Because "Relentless Punishment" counts all prior uses of the Power, using that special rule a second time can get quite expensive (Power's Energy Cost + 1 Energy for the first use + 1 Energy per initial "Relentless Punishment" use + 1 Energy for the self-Repeat use)!

  The Locus Aspect works similarly, but instead of the cost increasing each time, each Repeat counts against the number of Repeats that Spirit gets from "Strength of the Waking Island."
