Power Cards

• If I get a Range boost, what Ranges does it affect?
  Anything that's your action, has a printed Range arrow, is not itself a Range boost, and obeys other restrictions.

  So not just the arrow under "Target Land" on most Power Cards, but also, e.g., Range arrows in the text of Powers (eg, Unrelenting Growth) and Range arrows in Spirit Phase actions (like "Move a Presence 1" as a Presence-track ability). Obviously, Power Cards that boost Range (like Reaching Grasp) won't be able to help with Spirit Phase actions, because it's too late in the turn for that (and furthermore, Reaching Grasp is explicitly limited to Powers).

  • They do not affect Gather or Push, because there is no Range arrow. (And the definition of those keywords involves "an adjacent land".)
  • They do not affect "Your land" or "lands with your Presence" because there is no Range arrow. (And that wording is about what is in the land, not how far away the land is.)
  • They do not affect Ranges on other players' Powers (even if played on you), because it is not your action.

  It also doesn't boost the Range at which Flame Markers make lands vulnerable to damage/destruction in Rituals of the Destroying Flame.

  Sky Stretches to Shore has wording that, read strictly, would cause it to work a little differently (only affecting targeting, not Range arrows in the text of Powers), but for the sake of consistency it works the same way.

• When a Power (say, Blazing Renewal) does damage to each Invader, then its threshold effect says "+4 Damage", is that +4 overall Damage, or +3 Damage to each Invader?
  +4 overall Damage, done when the threshold is resolved. If it were a per-Invader improvement, the text would read "+4 Damage to each Invader".

  Generally, the "+" in threshold effects is just to remind players that the damage is in addition to the damage up in the normal effects.

  (Mists of Oblivion changed between the second and third printings, and the current printings no longer have the "+".)

• Can you use Blazing Renewal on a Spirit with no destroyed Presence just to do 4 Damage somewhere if you have the threshold elements?
  No.

  The threshold effect should specify "4 Damage in that land." (The Power doesn't target a land, so there's not any other place one could deal the Damage anyhow.)

Spirits and Innate Powers

• Can Relentless Gaze of the Sun use Relentless Punishment to repeat Spirit-targeting Powers?
  No, a Spirit-targeting Power doesn't have an origin land.

  (Some Spirit-targeting Powers technically have origin lands for specific Range checks in their effects, like for the Damage in Unleash a Torrent of the Self's Own Essence, but the Power as a whole still doesn't have an origin for Relentless Punishment to count Presence in.)

• When Ocean's Hungry Grasp is in play, can Blight, other Spirit Presence, Beasts, or other tokens end up in the Ocean?
  Yes, the Ocean is a Coastal Wetland for many purposes, and Blight and any of the tokens from Branch & Claw can end up there. Spirit Presence from other spirits cannot be placed there during the Growth phase, but can end up there as a result of cards like Indomitable Claim or Flow Like Water, Reach Like Air. So long as Ocean has Presence on the board, non-human pieces in the Ocean continue to behave normally and are considered "in play" - so a Disease would count for an Event which checks if the board has Disease, for instance, even though that's an Event Action.

  Invaders will never take actions there, so many of the tokens will have no effect.

• Can Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares do real damage (destroying cities, etc) with Power X?
  The answer, in general, is 'no'. If the Power says "damage" or "destroy", it doesn't matter if it also says that Dahan, Beasts, Invaders, or anything else are doing that damage, the source is still ultimately Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares and is only nightmare damage.

  This applies even if the power has some other spirit doing something (eg, Blazing Renewal). If Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares played the power, it cannot do real damage.

  But: note that Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares can "remove" or "replace" Invaders without restriction, can trigger Invader Actions (ie, cause a Ravage, which will involve real damage), can modify how Invader actions work, and can usefully add Defense (without changing how the Dahan deal their retaliation damage in the Ravage).
