Adversaries

• What does "Escalation ignores S" on Habsburg Mining Expedition level 4 mean?
  The Mining Tunnels Escalation checks terrains, and neither "Mining land" nor "non-Mining land" are terrains.

  Similarly, Mining Tunnels will ignore the "Coastal Lands" Invader Card at Levels 0-3. The Fortification Event works similarly.

Aspects

• Does a land sunk by the Deeps Aspect still have [printed trait]?
  Generally, no. The now-expanded Ocean does not gain the terrain, land number, or setup symbols of the sunken land.

  However, the expanded Ocean is adjacent to any lands the sunken land was adjacent to — at least those that are not already part of the Ocean.

  Here's the list. (As usual, J = Jungle, M = Mountains, S = Sands, W = Wetlands.)

• What does it mean when a Power's effects or Target Land shows (Terrain A)(Terrain B)? A or B? A next to B?
  It means "Terrain A OR Terrain B." (Back page, Targeting section.)

  The division between them is supposed to be a sort of slash, but that's not especially clear.

Event Cards

• What are 'Hills' in the Coming of Age section of the Event card Strange Tales Attract Explorers?
  That should be 'Mountain'. That section should read "On Each Board: Add 1 Dahan to a Mountain or Sands with Dahan".

  This is leftover from a late terminology switch.

• How does a Stage II Coastal Lands card interact with the Fortification event *(After advancing Invader Cards: Invaders Build in one terrain not shown under any Invader Action)*?
  It doesn't -- it is treated as though the card were blank.

  "Coastal Lands" is not a terrain type.

Invader Actions

• When an Invader card shows two terrain types, do they Explore (or Build, or Ravage) in every region of both terrains?
  Yes, they will act in every terrain of the shown type, subject to the usual restrictions that the region be accessible for Explore or that invaders be present for Build or Ravage.

Power Cards

• If you use Weave Together the Fabric of Place, what is the number of the conjoined land? Which board is it on?
  For land types based on contents ("a land with Blight") or geography ("a land adjacent to Mountains"), check the contents or geography of the conjoined land normally. Whether a land is Coastal bases off of its geography (whether it is adjacent to the printed Ocean area), so joining a Coastal land with an Inland land results in one big Coastal land. As a special exception, a land joined with the Ocean is still Coastal.

  For land types based on intrinsic (printed) characteristics (terrain, land number, Setup symbols, board), the conjoined land has the type of both original lands, even if this is normally impossible – you can create a land that's both Wetland and Jungle, both land #3 and land #1, has 4 Dahan setup symbols, and on both Board A and Board B.

  If you need to choose "the board" containing the conjoined land (e.g., Tsunami) or its "land number", you choose which single board or land number to use.

Spirits and Innate Powers

• When Breath of Darkness Down Your Spine targets The Endless Dark, which targeting restrictions can The Endless Dark meet?
  Breath's Power can target The Endless Dark if they do any of the following:

  • Have no targeting restrictions;
  • Only target Inland lands (e.g., Here There Be Monsters);
  • Can't target specific terrains (e.g., Dry Wood Explodes in Smoldering Splinters);
  • Check for pieces that are currently in The Endless Dark (e.g., Territorial Strife targeting The Endless Dark if a City is present there); or
  • Specifically target The Endless Dark (e.g., Lost in the Endless Dark).

  Breath can't target The Endless Dark with Powers that target specific terrains or Coastal lands, check for pieces that aren't currently in The Endless Dark, or that have origin requirements that Breath doesn't satisfy (e.g., The Jungle Hungers if Breath has no Presence in Jungles).
