Adversaries

• For "Royal Backing" (The Kingdom of Sweden Level 4), what is the timing of the Invader Card discard? How does it combine with other Adversaries which stack the Invader Deck?
  "Royal Backing" rephrased for less ambiguity: "At the end of Setup (after resolving the initial Explore Card), Accelerate the Invader Deck. (Discard the topmost card of the lowest Invader Stage remaining in the deck.) On each board, add 1 Town to the land with fewest Invaders that matches the discarded card."

  The fact that it's Accelerating the deck instead of discarding off the top is only relevant when combining Adversaries and the top Invader Card (post-Explore) is a later Invader Stage moved upwards by Adversary instructions. (E.g., against The Kingdom of Brandenburg-Prussia Level 5, the next card is a Stage III card, but there are still Stage II cards left in the deck.)

• Can the Salt Deposits Invader Card be removed or discarded from the Invader Deck?
  No, the only way it can leave the Invader Deck is by being advanced out of the Explore Space into the Build Space at the end of the Invader Phase in which it was revealed.

  In particular:

  • If you would Accelerate it out of the deck, instead discard the next Stage II card underneath it (or the top-most Stage III card if there are no Stage II cards left).
  • Visions of a Shifting Future can't bury it to the bottom of the deck (since it's specially placed during Setup), but can shuffle it to take a chance at delaying it.
  • The Past Returns Again can't swap it with a card in the Invader discard.

Effect Rules

• When do you resolve a Reminder Card in the Invader Deck when accelerating multiple cards out of the deck (e.g., during the Despicable Theft scenario)?
  If a Reminder Card is revealed in the middle of accelerating the deck, set it aside and then resolve it after the action that caused the acceleration (and any actions it triggered).

  For Despicable Theft in particular, all Thieves in one Coastal land escape as a single action, so if multiple numbered Thieves escape from that land, accelerate the deck from all of them before resolving the revealed Reminder Card.

Scenarios

• The definition of Accelerate in the Jagged Earth rulebook says that the affected Invader Card is discarded, but the reminder text on Elemental Invocation says it gets removed from the game. Which one is correct?

  Rules text trumps reminder text. This is occasionally relevant for effects that interact with the Invader Card discard.
