Shopping List

  • Salmon filet, about 2/3 lb

Staples Used

  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 tsp Garlic
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Ajowan seeds, bruised
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne
  • 1 Tbl Sour cream or yogurt
  • 1 Tbl Ghee

Notes

Calls for sour cream, but Kate's yogurt works fine, so don't worry too much.
Combine everything but the ghee. Pat salmon dry, then spread the marinade all over both sides. Let sit at room temp for 30 min, or up to three hours in fridge. (Room temp is preferable.). Heat the grill.
After 30 min, melt ghee in microwave, and spread some over fish, both sides. Put fish in fish basket (if it wasn't already in it), and grill on high, about 3 min per side.
This is double the garlic of the original.
The ghee is for basting just before grilling, and should be melted. Everything else can just be combined for the marinade -- don't need to be as fiddly as the original says, layering on the marinade and then the sour cream.
Uses: Grill
Goes With: Grilled green peppers
-- Solidly good fish option for the grill. Has wound up one of our top-five favorites.
