Users, Identities and Persons

TODO

  • General motivation: trying to give you better control over your online presence, at least within Querki
  • Can't promise that we'll achieve all of this -- there is a lot of grand experiment here
  • Internals are built, but many of the details are not yet
  • User: who you really are
  • Querki generally tries not to expose this as such -- please yell if you find an information leakage
  • Identity: a specific online identity for you
  • Currently only one Identity per User, your login-by-handle
  • This will change: Social Network Integration
  • We plan to keep your, eg, Facebook, Google, handle, etc, Identities separate by default
  • You may link your Identities so that people can see that they are the same User, but don't have to
  • You get to have one Identity within a given Space, to make hand-puppeting a little harder
  • Person: what you look like in this specific Space
  • Person is a normal Querki Model, like any other
  • You can create customized sub-Models of Person, to hang additional information off of Identities
  • Example: casting, based on A Respectful Calm
  • Currently rather clunky to do this, but we'll probably make it work better later
