A useful virtual museum with a lot of period artworks.
I recommend specifically searching for Avercamp, who did a number of just-post-period (early 17th c) paintings of people playing games on the winter ice. Other good examples are the 1555 painting of "Portrait of the Artist's Sisters Playing Chess" by Sofonisba Anguissola and "Children's Games" (1559-60) by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
