Butirata

Ingredients

8 slices Italian Bread (Store-bought)
12 oz Butter (3 sticks)
Mozzarella (Store-bought or homemade)
Sugar
Cinnamon

Steps

  • Slice & toast bread (did not remove crust - too thin). Melt 2 sticks of butter and pour into a deep cookie tray. Lay bread on tray, cover with thin slices of cheese.
  • Dust with cinnamon & sugar. Melt another stick of butter and drizzle it over the bread.
  • Broil until cheese is melty & bread is well browned (5 minutes). Serve immediately.

Notes

I know this is slightly less butter than he suggests, but the end result is plenty buttery.
Next time should probably involve a more sturdy bread - not as airy - will probably not end up quite as oozy-buttery.
Homemade mozzarella was preferred - not as stringy when it melted.
