One or more characters who were up close and personal with the shooting, and are now coming out of shock.
I am thinking that one of these people might have been there during the final showdown. After shooting his actual targets, Seamus (covered in some blood) had come to this person to try and justify his actions. He was in the middle of explaining himself when
Rescuer shot him in the back of the head, blowing his brains all over this person. They've spent much of the past two hours shivering and screaming.
