Cynically Extreme Republican
A politician who started out as a fairly sincere and thoughtful conservative in the Reagan era. Has been in politics long enough by now to roll with the changes as they happen, and has been driven to the hard right by Tea Party followers. Was originally galled at the things he had to say on Fox News interview shows, but has by now become deeply resigned to it, and comfortable in his role as the local standard-bearer of the hard right.
