Changes in core game second printing

Note: This list is based off of things marked "done" on the to-do punchlist. Minor deviations are possible. (And I might mis-transcribe something, as briefly happened for Tsunami.)
There is exactly one (minor) gameplay change, noted below. (The Fear Card "Dahan Enheartened".) All other changes are purely for clarity, to fix typos, or to explain rules better.

Fear Cards

  • Dahan Enheartened - CHANGE: Levels 2 and 3 reworded to remove "Damage to Invaders" phrasing; includes minor effect CHANGE:
    • Lvl 2: "Each player chooses a different land. In chosen lands: Gather up to 2 Dahan, then 1 Damage if Dahan are present."
    • Lvl 3: "Each player chooses a different land. In chosen lands: Gather up to 2 Dahan, then 1 Damage per Dahan present."
    • Reason: The old wording meant you couldn't choose a land which already had Dahan if there were no Dahan adjacent to Gather. This was contrary to the design intent of the card and was confusing some players.
    • It's a very minor change, but just in case anyone wants to make a pasteup, an image of the second printing card has been uploaded here.
  • Dahan Raid: All levels reworded to remove "Invaders take N damage" phrasing.

Power Cards

General:
  • Power progression markings: Changed flat diagonal to more rounded curve
  • Power Cards with "or" on them (eg - Call to Tend, Call to Bloodshed, etc): Added small divider (similarly-colored) on each side of 'or' for better visibility
Specific, Major:
  • Blazing Renewal: Changed "4" in threshold to "+4"
  • Entwined Power: Replaced "take" with "gain"
  • Poisoned Land: In threshold effect, replaced "Per Blight," with "For each Blight then present,"
  • Powerstorm: Capitalized "repeat" in threshold
  • Tsunami: Reworded threshold effect for clarity: "In each other Coastal land on the same board: 1 Fear, 4 Damage, and Destroy 1 Dahan."
Specific, Unique:
  • Dread Apparitions (Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares): Added 's' to 'Death' (to match Special Rules name)

Punchboard items

  • Bleed radius increased on 1-Energy markers
  • "Level 6" moved from Small England reminder tile to Large England reminder tile
  • Blue/Purple defend/reminder markers lightened slightly

Rulebook

  • p. 3, First-Time Players, first bullet-point: Added "Of these four, Shadows Flicker Like Flame is the trickiest."
  • p. 9: Added sidebar: "LAND ORDER? If it makes a difference in what order you resolve the lands for a given Action, the players choose."
  • p. 9: Added sidebar: "EACH PLAYER Many Fear effects tell 'each player' to do something. Players are restricted only by the card's instructions in which lands they affect; the effect represents activity by the Invaders or Dahan, not the Spirits. First one player follows the instructions fully, then the next player does, etc."
  • p. 9, section 3a. Ravage, 1st paragraph: Added "simultaneously" between "Invaders deal Damage" and "to the land and Dahan"
  • p. 9, section 3a, Ravage, 2nd paragraph: Replaced final sentence ("Damage is done both to the land and Dahan") with "Reduce the total Damage by any Defend powers played (p. 18), then simultaneously:"
  • p. 9, section 3a, Ravage, sublist #2: Replaced "avaoid" with "avoid"
  • p. 10: Added sidebar: "STAGE III Stage III cards show two terrains with a "+" between them. Invader Actions affect lands of both shown terrains."
  • p. 11, Explore Image example: Moved non-ghosted Explorer from land B to land C. (To make it clearer that you add an Explorer even if one is already present.)
  • p. 14, Moving Presence sidebar: Changed title to "Repositioning Presence". Reworded text to "It is rarely relevant, but whenever you would add a Presence from your Presence Track, you may instead use one of your Presence from anywhere on the island. This is most often useful if all your Presence is in play: you can still reposition it."
  • p. 14, Elemental Thresholds sidebar, 2nd paragraph: Replaced "only as long as the Power Card is in play" with "only for as long as you have the Power Card in play"
  • p. 14, second bullet under #8: Replaced "+Any" with "Any".
  • p. 15, Invaders, 3rd paragraph, final sentence: Replaced "use 3-Energy tokens as '3 of this piece' markers" with "use Energy markers as '1 more / 3 more of this piece' markers".
  • p. 18, Damage section, final sentence: Added "heals" at the end (after the word "survivors").
  • p. 18, Defend section, 2nd sentence: Replaced with: 'Defend 2' means "Whenever Invaders deal Damage in target land this turn, reduce by 2 the Damage done to the land and to Dahan."
  • p. 18, Fear From Destruction sidebar: Reworded text to "Whenever a City or Town is destroyed (via Damage or otherwise), it frightens the Invaders. You generate 2 Fear for each City destroyed and 1 Fear for each Town destroyed (in addition to any Fear done explicitly by the Power). If you remove or replace a City/Town, it does not generate this automatic Fear."
  • p. 19, Gather and Push, first paragraph: Replaced "from adjacent lands" with "from lands adjacent to the target"
  • p. 19, Repeat section, final bullet-point: Expanded as: "Repeating a Power Card doesn't count as playing another Power Card. (For, e.g., Boon of Vigor.) It does count as using a new Power. (For, e.g., Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares.)
  • p. 21: Added sidebar: "GAME TOO HARD?
    If you're getting crushed and it's no fun:
    • For a slightly easier game, give all Spirits a bonus Growth at the end of Setup.
    • For a moderately easier game, omit the Invaders' initial Explore at the end of Setup.
    • For a much easier game, do both.
    Note: two Blight rules can make the game extremely punishing if misplayed. Ravaging adds only one Blight to a land (not one per 2 Damage!), and Blight only cascades to a single adjacent land (not to all of them!)"
  • p. 21, top sentence: Replaced "you first games" with "your first games"
  • p. 26, Kingdom of Sweden, 1st paragraph: Replaced “to defeat Kingdom of Denmark” with “to defeat the Kingdom of Denmark”
  • pp. 30-31: Applied dictionary indentation to index/glossary
  • p. 30, "Defend" entry: Replaced "the land/Dahan" with "the land and Dahan".
  • p. 31, "Gain a Power Card" entry: Swapped first two sentences. Replaced “In a Teaching Game” with “If using a Power Progression for your first play”.
  • p. 31: Added entry: "Type of land: see 'Land Type'.
  • p. 31, "Ravage" entry: Added "simultaneously between "Invaders and "deal Damage".

Spirit Panels

General:
  • All panels, Growth options which add/move Presence: Changed text "Add Presence" to "Add a Presence"; likewise for Move.
Specific:
  • Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares, Special Rules, start of 2nd paragraph: Replaced "If your Powers" with "When a Power of yours"
  • Ocean's Hungry Grasp, Special Rule "Ocean In Play": Replaced final sentence ("Any Invaders or Dahan moved to those Oceans are Drowned") with "You Drown any Invaders or Dahan moved to those Oceans."
  • Thunderspeaker, Special Rule "Sworn to Victory": Replaced text with "For each Dahan killed by Invaders Ravaging a land, destroy 1 of your Presence within Range 1. (After losing Presence to Blight.)"
