Changes in Branch & Claw / 2015 Promos second printing

Note: This list is based off of things marked "done" on the to-do punchlist. Minor deviations are possible. (And I might mis-transcribe something.)
There are no gameplay changes; all edits are for clarity / presentation / information.

Misc

  • Box art lightened slightly

Adversaries

  • French Plantation Colony, Level 1: Replace text with: "Except during Setup: After Invaders successfully Explore into a land which had no [Town]/[City], add 1 [Explorer] there."

Blighted Island Cards

  • Disintegrating Ecosystem: Replace text with: "Immediately, on each board: Destroy 1 [Beasts], then add 1 [Blight] to a land with [Town]/[City]."

Event Cards

General:
  • Event cards with randomization from Minor Powers Change "On Each Board: Discard the top Minor Power" to "For each board, discard the top Minor Power."
  • Choice Events: On each card with a Choice Event, move the Energy cost & "Aided By" line to the top of its choice, just under the title for that choice.
  • Primary events with "or": Put curly-lines on either side of the 'or', like on Power Cards. (Overcrowded Cities; Outpaced; The Center Crumbles; Devastated Shores; Widening Destruction; Blight Spreads (x2 cards); Sacred Sites Under Threat; Power Fades)
  • Various Event Cards, primary event: Remove extra boldfacing after colon. (In each case, a prefix like "On Each Board:", or "Each Spirit:" or "When Exploring:" is correctly bolded, but the boldfacing extends past the colon into the beginning of the text.) (Farmers Seek the Dahan for Aid (x3, after "On Each Board"); Missionaries Arrive (2nd choice option); Local Diaspora, Wave of Reconnaissance, Interesting Discoveries, Strange Tales Attract Explorers (second line), Reprisal Against the Dahan, Investigation of Dangers, Population Rises, Slave Rebellion (both halves)
Specific:
  • Years of Little Rain, Token Event: Make this "Beasts Attack" formatted like the two on Cultural Assimilation and Strange Tales Attract Explorers
  • A Strange Madness Among the Beasts, primary event, 2nd choice (1) Replace "remaining on the island" with "you decide to keep on the island". (2) Swap the two bullet-points (so "Remove any number of Beasts" comes first)
  • A Strange Madness Among the Beasts, token event: Replace "does 2 Damage to Invaders" with "deals 2 Damage".
  • Sacred Sites under Threat, primary event: (1) At top, add flavor text "Invaders have begun to find hidden places of natural power. You may:" (2) Remove the bulleting list. Format it like the Blighted Land effect 'The Center Crumbles' on another Fear card. (3) Remove 'there' after 'do 2 Damage'."
  • Strange Tales Attract Explorers - Dahan Event Change "Hills" to "Mountain"
  • War Touches the Island's Shores, choice event: Change the first choice to "For each board, discard the top Major Power. Deal its Energy In Damage to Invaders and the land in the Coastal land with the most [Town]/[City] (minimum 1). Defend reduces this Damage."
  • New Cash Crops take Hold: Replace "land type" with "terrain type"
  • Widening Destruction: Replace "an land" with "a land"
  • Urban Development and Heavy Farming: Replace "leave this card in the Ravage slot" with "leave this card by the Ravage space".

Fear Cards

  • Dahan Attack:
    • Lvl 2: Replace "Invaders take 1 Damage per Dahan there" with "1 Damage per Dahan there"
    • Lvl 3: Replace "Invaders take 2 Damage per Dahan there" with "Then, 2 Damage per Dahan there"
  • Flee the Pestilent Land, Terror 3: Replace "with Disease or 1 Explorer or 1 Town" with "with Disease, or 1 Explorer/Town" (comma after Disease, shift Explorer/Town to slash'd nomenclature)

Invader Board extension

  • At the very bottom of the wrap area, just after 4 Fear symbols, replace "per [Spirit]" with "per player". (The core game board is correct; basically update this one to match.)

Power Cards

General:
  • Curled lines added to each side of "OR" lines, for better noticeability
Minor:
  • Call to Trade: Replace outdated Town icon with actual Town icon
Major:
  • Pyroclastic Flow, Savage Transformation, and Smothering Infestation: Correct order of threshold elements to match the order of elements down the side of Power Cards

Rulebook

  • p. 8, just under Blighted Island inset box: Replace "two possible primary Events" with "two possible primary Events, both bad"
  • p. 8, just before list item #4: Replace "Most Event cards also have:" with "Most Event cards also have two potentially good Events:"
  • p.17, final paragraph: Append sentence "This is because the boards start with tokens which may help limit the Invaders' spread."

Spirit Panels

General:
  • All panels, Growth options which add/move Presence: Changed text "Add Presence" to "Add a Presence"; likewise for Move.
  • All panels, Summary of Powers: "Uses" section added to show what tokens the Spirit uses.
Specific:
  • Heart of the Wildfire: Complexity returned to "High" (where it was for most of playtesting). (Based on player reactions plus a realization of why listening to the playtesters wasn't the right move.)
  • Serpent Slumbering Beneath the Island: Complexity bar lengthened slightly (still "High", but the physical bar is longer.)
