Single-character name bindings should be legal

Summary: It looks like, if you say +$i in a QL expression, you get a cryptic parse error. I think the issue is that you can't have a single-character name?
This needs to be examined. But for name bindings, if perhaps not for real Things, we do want to allow single-character names -- they're just not unusual.
