Required Text Field with a Minimum Length is just plain broken

Summary: Unclear what is happening, but I encountered this while building the Arisia Space.
I set the Minimum Text Length to 250 because I wasn't paying attention. All attempts to fill in the field returned 400 errors -- not even a graceful "Unknown error", just a silent-to-the-user failure, and the window locked up.
