I should be able to see "Saving..." even if I have scrolled down

Summary: At the moment, we display "Saving..." / "Saved" in the top left corner, but it scrolls with the page content. This really doesn't work -- especially on mobile devices, it tends to get scrolled off, so you don't have that crucial feedback.
It probably should instead be in the menu bar, but think how this works on cell phones in portrait orientation. We might want it to just be a little symbol or something, so it doesn't take much space.
