I should be able to define Aliases for a Thing

Summary: I want this desperately for the Carolingian Cooks Guild Space, where Sources often have several valid names, and I would like each of them to show up as a legitimate Tag.
This would also be massively useful for being able to change the Names of Things, while keeping old references to it.
Conceptually, this would be a standard Property that can be added to any Thing on an ad-hoc basis, or on a Model. Values of this would show up in Tag prompts, and if you click on a Tag with an Alternate Name, it takes you to the correct Thing.
The only challenge of doing this is efficiency -- we've put a lot of work into making name resolution fast, and slowing that down would not be a win.
